About the role
The Assistant Parts Manager will be responsible for supporting the Genuine Parts Manager in the daily control of the parts operation. Expectation to assist and oversee varying aspects of the spare parts operations, including but not limited to procurement, maintaining optimal inventory levels, upholding quality standards, leveraging data for strategic decision-making, enhancing customer service, managing supplier relationships, and driving continuous improvements to facilitate efficient and effective spare parts distribution.
⚡ Supply Chain & Purchasing Management – Take ownership of purchasing and supply chain issues, managing stock levels, optimising inventory using sales/demand data, and ensuring continuous spare parts supply, including end-of-production life planning.
⚡ 3PL Partner Relationship – Control and maintain the relationship with the nominated 3PL partner, handling the customer service inbox and processing related orders.
⚡ Stakeholder Collaboration – Liaise with internal teams, procurement, and key stakeholders to remove bottlenecks, resolve urgent VOR issues, and support colleagues with transaction and supply chain queries.
⚡ Customer Service & Experience – Ensure timely, accurate delivery of spare parts, address complaints, and work with the Parts Manager to improve customer satisfaction.
⚡ Reporting & Performance Monitoring – Produce regular reports on spare parts performance and trends for management.
⚡ Service Requirements – Manage service schedules, plan builds with the team, maintain stock levels, and update the service bill of materials (S-BOM).
Experience to succeed
⚡ Automotive Parts Expertise – Experience in automotive spare parts, with strong knowledge of relevant components, demand drivers, and industry processes.
⚡ Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive spare parts management, preferably within a dealer group or vehicle manufacturer(OEMs).
⚡ Supply Chain & Logistics Knowledge – Understanding of material handling, transportation, inventory management and beneficial knowledge of import/export processes.
⚡ Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills – Skilled in using data to identify issues, forecast demand, and drive effective solutions.
⚡ Communication & Collaboration – Strong customer service skills with the ability to work independently or in a team and engage effectively with stakeholders.
⚡ KPIs and Performance - Experience in tracking KPIs such as daily sales performance, stock availability, and managing back orders is essential.
⚡ Technical & IT Proficiency – A technical qualification is preferred, along with a solid understanding or appreciation of vehicle systems and how they operate. Confident in using inventory systems, databases, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
