About the role
The Principal Colour Materials and Finish Designer is responsible for developing and designing surface materials such as graphics, colour, trims, textiles, and grains for visible surfaces and parts through sketches or 3D renderings. They support the creation of industry-leading and highly desirable colour, material, and finish solutions that elevate the LEVC brand experience. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in design, with a focus on trends, colour psychology, materials usage, and finishes applicability. They should be able to work collaboratively with other designers and stakeholders to develop innovative and creative solutions that meet the needs of the business and its customers. Additionally, they should have excellent communication skills, be able to present their work at a high level, and be comfortable engaging with suppliers to recommend CMF items to senior managers. The designer should have a “can do” or ”one team” attitude, and be willing to cross pollinate design ideas with the other design faculties at LEVC.
⚡ Trend Analysis: You will be responsible for generating and tracking global trends that are relevant to each project or product. You will work closely with the design team to ensure that the latest trends are incorporated into the design of LEVC products.
⚡ Technology Scoping: You will utilise key learnings and best practices to suggest and scope new technologies that will help to push the design of LEVC products. You will work closely with the engineering team to ensure that the latest technologies are incorporated into the design of LEVC products.
⚡ Project Leadership: You will lead projects autonomously with minimal supervision, working within set guidelines and best practices. You will coordinate with UK, China and Global suppliers to complete projects on time and within budget. Working with internal customers to generate CMF models and supplying documentation to show a clear CMF direction. You will be part of the design senior management team, and as such will assume responsibilities if the CMF Chief is on travel or unavailable.
⚡ Technical Expertise: You will utilise your technical skillset and industry best practice when working with engineering departments and colleagues. You will ensure that the design of LEVC products is technically feasible and meets all relevant standards.
⚡ Future Scope: You will continuously look towards future scope and directions that can be initiated for projects at LEVC. You will work closely with the design and engineering teams to ensure that the latest trends and technologies are incorporated into the interior and exterior design of LEVC products.
⚡ Customer focus: Compiling new or innovative trend based CMF design directions to entice new customers to LEVC.
Experience to succeed
⚡ Experience in design, with a focus on trends, colour psychology, materials usage, and finishes applicability.
⚡ Excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with other designers and stakeholders to develop innovative and creative solutions that meet the needs of the business and its customers.
⚡ More than 5 years of work experience in colour texture fabric design; more than 3 years of experience in automotive interior and exterior colour material design and participated in more than 5 automotive colour material design projects, with high-end luxury car design experience is preferred.
⚡ Full-time public undergraduate degree or above, majoring in industrial design, interior design, apparel design and other related majors.
⚡ Proficiency in using PowerPoint, Photoshop, AI and other related design software.
⚡ Attention to detail and confident delivering presentations.
⚡ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
